Loyd officially entered the world of sports with his first soccer practice this week. Dressed in his baseball shirt, basketball shorts, and soccer socks he was excited to meet his coach and team for the first time. He did really great at practice. He listened to his coach, made a great soccer ball stealing pirate, and played a mean game of "Red Light, Green Light" kicking his ball down the field. He was in his sporty element. I'm sure he's going to enjoy sports and we'll keep you updated with how his first game goes next week!

This week was Spring Break and we made sure to stay busy. On Monday we chilled around the house and got lots of sleep. We are still adjusting to Day Light Saving time. Then, on Tuesday we spent a marathon day at the dentist. Everyone (except Xavier) had their teeth cleaned and checked. Loyd was so relaxed during his exam that he nearly fell asleep in the dentist chair. They couldn't believe how calm and well behaved Rebekah and Loyd were for their check-ups. On Wednesday we played at the park until the kids were good and tired. Thursday was our big adventure day. We packed a picnic lunch and headed for Brazos Bend state park. It about an hour a way through some pretty county. It was a nice drive out. We even saw some bluebonnets beginning to peak out in the fields. At the state park we were able to enjoy a nice picnic area and a wooden playground set. Then we took an easy 1.2 mile hike around one of the lakes and were able to see a lot of American alligators. You know Dustin and Loyd had a super great time at their first Fathers and Sons camp out when Loyd throws up on the way home because he ate way too many s'mores and played far too much with his daddy. :) Sorry I don't have more details. No moms allowed at the Fathers and Sons activity. :>)

Birthday Boy of the Week Party of the Week To celebrate our sweet little boy's birthday we all ate way too much sugar and the boys had a great time playing with Loyd's new Star Wars light-sabers that light up and go "Shwing!" We also had a party for him on Saturday. We had a great time. The theme was bugs. We invited lots of his little friends over and built bug jars and bug binoculars. Then, we went on a bug hunt and captured lots and lots of bugs. It was a really rainy day so the bug hunt had to be relocated from the backyard to the front room. The kids had fun. There was no preschool this week so we had to get creative to keep Loyd busy. He decided he wanted to play outdoor bowling. He set up his own pins (and even became one) while Xavier attempted to knock them down with the bike trailer flag. Silly boys. Future world champion bowling league winners. Happy Valentine's Day!

Loyd had his first big Trooper School field trip this week. We all went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium to see lots of beautiful sea life. Xavier was fascinated with everything. He ran from observation window to observation window shouting, "Oh! Look! Oh! Look!" Loyd just ran. He made 3 laps around the entire Aquarium in the time it took Xavier and I to see 2/3 of it. Thank goodness Loyd had his own personal trip chaperone to keep up with his energy. :) I couldn't resist getting a picture of Loyd in the shark cage. There's something comforting in knowing he's stuck in one spot for a minute. :) I had a difficult time getting pictures of the boys' faces. They didn't want to look at me. They wanted to watch the fish and squeal at the water acrobatics of the seals and penguins. I can't say I blame them. I had fun watching the animals too.
