Play Time

Image
Why do I go anywhere? I know what is going to happen. We will leave the house with everyone in high spirits and a little late. We will soon arrive at our destination at which time Rebekah will begin to whine, whimper, scream, and then cry. The next hour will be filled with demands of "Holda! Holda!" and a clinging toddler. After which we will leave. Leaving is no fun either. There is screaming, wiggling, and kicking. Ah, the joys of going to play group. Now why does this anxiety attack happen each time? You've got me! I keep hoping that repetition of of our schedule will eventually ease Bekah's high anxiety, but it doesn't seem to be working yet. I am welcome to any ideas! We did survive nursery today. Things might be looking up. Loyd is relaxing a bit. We found him some rattles to chew and few of the cold teething rings and that seems to keep him in high spirits. I get a great laugh when I hear the teething ball squeaking away against his gums.

The Tyrant

Behold the tyrant! Our little Mr. Loyd is going through a crying phase. He seems to only be happy when he is being held, and even then it is hit and miss. I think he is starting to work on some teeth as he is sharing a large amount of slobber. I think if we can survive just a little longer he will soon return to his happy, easy going self. Everyone cross your fingers! Bekah is keeping us busy with playing games and dancing. Whenever she hears a snippet of music she stops whatever she is doing and pulls her famous "princess" dance moves. She loves to stick her leg out and put her hands on her head like a ballerina. She also LOVES to play ball. We throw the ball around nearly all day! These kids are going to keep me in amazing shape with weight lifting and aerobics.

Happy Sabath

On the advice of Loretta we have been researching something called " Square Foot Gardening ." We are excited to give it a try as it seems really simple and fun. Dustin is planning on buying the materials to make the boxes tomorrow and I'm hoping to talk him into taking advantage of the Memorial Day sales about town too. We are having fun planning out our landscaping plans and trying to figure out just what we can grown and when here in Southeastern Texas. Rebekah is getting much more verbal. Her favorite thing to say is "Hay! Bekah's!" when we tease her by taking her toy or treat. Loyd was mister popular at Church today. All the ladies on our bench wanted to hold him and I was happy to oblige. He loves the attention and I'm happy for a break from holding the little guy. He also gets quite a bit of attention when I drop him off with Dustin just before the 3rd hour of Church. Dustin teaches the 13 year olds and those girls are more than enthusia

Dance Party

Image
It was a dance party last night. Rebekah loves to dance to music so we had some tunes groovin' and she was dancing like a pro! I can't wait until we can enroll her in dance classes. I can see the future now! I envision going to dance recitals and watching my cute little girl freeze in fear on stage in front of lots of strangers! Oh, how fun! Loyd is our little man. He is very easy going and loves to watch his sister act silly. He got lots of giggles watching Bekah's twirls, spins and jumps.

Yuck!

Image
Maybe the repeated cries of "Yuck! Don't play with the plunger!" are finally getting through! :) We had a rousing weekend of yard work but the kids seemed to enjoy spending the whole day outside in the dirt. Rebekah can hardly wait to get her little hands around one of mommy's shovels and then she sets to work taking out all the good dirt and placing it dutifully on the sidewalk. When a shovel isn't available she heads to her next big job, taking all the flowers off the plants. It's nice having such a hard working daughter! Loyd gets more personality every day. He is ticklish all over so we have no end of fun making the little guy giggle and squirm as we poke his sides and buzz his tummy. Well, kids are napping so I will take advantage of the free time!

Crazy Thursday

It's about time I got caught up with everyone else on the planet and started a little blog about our family to share! Today we went to a great little place called "Monkey'N Around" where they have all the fun big toys toddlers love and parents hate because they take up so much space. Rebekah had a ball and Loyd suffered valiantly as he was cooped up in the snuggly the entire time. In Bekah's words, "Toys Fun!" Bekah was so worn out that she asked me if she could go "night night" when we got home. Ahh, the joys of having good children! Loyd is always trying to make sure that he is awake and monopilizing as much of my attention as possible when Rebekah is napping. He loves to have his mommy all to himself. Well, Rebekah is up and getting into all sorts of things she knows she shouldn't get into. I better scat before she gets into much else!
