Time to Break Out the Swimming Suits Again!

Image
We finally deemed it warm enough to break out the swimming pool. We Texans are kind of sissy about the temperature of our water. We don't like going swimming in a chilly pool. The weather is warming into the low 80s around here and the water isn't too cold, so we took advantage of a relaxing afternoon in the backyard sidewalk swimming pool. The kids enjoyed the cool- ish water and I enjoyed some quality reading time outside. We're happy to say goodbye to the winter chill and hello to the warm sun!

The ABC's of Spring Break

Image
Spring Break finally arrived and we had a lot of fun. The best way to share with you some of the things we did is to break it down into the main ABC's of our week. "A" is for Art The last half of Spring Break was mostly dominated by Dustin being away at a robotic competition in Houston for CCISD's district robotics team, the Robonauts . On the last day of competition Dustin decided to bring Rebekah up with him to show her what he has been doing in the evenings for the past few months. She had so much fun that she could hardly take a breath for all the things she had to tell me about when they came home. She told me all the rules of how the robots played their game, what songs they blasted over the loud speakers and how many people there were at the competition. She also got around to drawing some great pictures of her experience that day. The picture above is her rendition of what the robot competition field looked like. The robots are in the middle, wi

Who knew that a fruit roll up could result in such a vibrant color of blue! Xavier sure looks happy about that goatee. Loyd earnestly studying and pondering the deeper meanings found in the classic, "Silly Sally" by Audrey Wood. I think I have a great scholar on my hands. You're never to young for hard labor. I thought the juxtaposition of Xavier's little stature and the big heavy gate was funny. I couldn't resist taking a picture of his herculean efforts to close the back gate for me. He actually did it too! Poor Miss Bekah has been a bit under the weather this week with a low grade fever and a cough. So, she hasn't been up to taking pictures. Hopefully she'll have slept her cold away and will be back to her cheerful, smiling self by next week. :D

A Face Only a Mother Could Love

This picture of Xavier just waking up and sporting some truly great bed-head had to be shared. It's when he's this "adorable" that I know I'm his mom because I still think he looks cute. :>D Little Mr. X has been very sleepy of late. He has been known to fall asleep at a moment's notice in all sorts of weird places. He passed out the other morning in the car during a 5 minute ride from the grocery store. I couldn't believe how quickly he fell asleep! He must be getting ready for another growth spurt. In other news, Spring is arriving in South East Texas. Here is a picture of our beautiful peach tree beginning to bloom and our newly transplanted Satsuma manderine orange tree. We are hoping the Satsuma will be a lot happier in the front yard and out of reach from the boys who like to beat on it and dig in its soil. Here's to hoping this year's crop is more than 2 oranges! When the weather is this nice we can't help but be outside. T
