Clean Up, Clean Up....

Image
We have blessed electricity once more. After a week without it we now more fully appreciate such wonders of modern technology as working refrigerators and TV. We are almost done with our own little clean up project here at the house. Dustin has to get on the roof and check out the shingle damage and we have to put up a new section of our fence. Other than that we have all the debris out of our yard. Here are some pictures of our debris pile and the kind men from our ward in their yellow "Mormon Helping Hands" t-shirts helping Dustin pull out the old fence anchors in our yard so we can get moving on putting up the new fence. Thanks for all the prayers and help! Here are some shots of Bekah and Loyd doing what they seem to want to do all the time lately, eating! They are good kids and have been so patient and helpful during this busy time. Bekah even pitched in and helped me fill trash bags with leaves and pulled small branches out to the debris pile in front of the h

We Returned to a Blessing

Image
We came home to a HUGE blessing. Our house is still here and didn't sustain much damage. We just have to rebuild a portion of our fence and clean up dead branches and we are good to groove again. We don't have power yet, but I anticipate that it will come online soon. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. I know the Lord greatly blessed us on this one. We came home and made sure we gave a prayer of thanks for His mercy on us. We hope we can get out there and start helping folks who didn't fair as well as we did soon. Here are some pictures of our home:

A Little Levity

The good news is that it doesn't appear that the water line made it up to the homes in our neighborhood, but the streets are flooded. We won't know the extent of the damage to our home until Monday when the city lets us back in. We'll keep you posted on information as we find out. For now we are safe and comfortable. Here is some cute video to add a little levity to the tense situation we have been experiencing the past few days. We had two great videos so here is the second! What a treat for the grandmas! Love all ya'll !

Ike's Yikes

We are hunkered down here in Katy, TX for hurricane Ike. Most likely our home is under a few feet of water, but we are hoping it will drain quickly. If you want to track the storm you can check out a few of these links: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ http://www.wunderground.com/ http://www.khou.com/ I'll keep the post brief as we may loose power. We are safe and with family. We have the most important things with us, our kids!

Hair Cuts

Image
Well, I finally broke down and gave everyone hair cuts last night. Dustin got a good shave, I took half an inch off Rebekah's beautiful locks and Loyd got his bangs and the hair over his ears trimmed a bit so he wouldn't look too shaggy. Here are some pictures of my handy work. My friend Lyndee and I have been having way too much fun thinking up fun baby gifts for all the sweet babies our friends and extended family are bringing into the world. On Friday we had a sowing party and made the most adorable burp cloths ever! Here is a picture of a few of our glamorous creations made for baby spit up! Loyd adores his big sister and Bekah is kind enough to let him play with her. I think she loves having him around and telling him what to do. This shot was just too cute to pass up. Rebekah has taken to sleeping on her floor lately. We had our friends the Lees over for a game night and had made a bed for their little girl, Libby, on the floor. Well, Rebekah thinks Libby is the e
