More John

Image
John is growing so fast and learning so many new things.  All that activity makes a growing boy tired, but what's a kid to do when his favorite place to sleep is in his Daddy's strong arms?  Make his Dad hold him while he naps and Daddy works, of course!  I love this tender moment. Dustin and John are just crazy about each other.  So  sweet. John has also turned into quite the marker ninja.  He can cover his whole body in ink in only a manner of seconds.  He's amazing! John learned how to climb out of his crib, and there isn't any room for another toddler bed in the boys' bedroom yet because the home remodel is still in progress, so we did the next best thing.  We set up his crib mattress on the floor and made a nice little space cowboy bed role for our little cowboy.  The best part is that he doesn't roll out of bed, but the hardest part is that he now stays up super late partying with the big boys when he should be sleeping.  Silly John.  We can't

Trick-or-Treat!

Owen showing off this year's candy haul from preschool trick-or-treating at the high school.  SO much candy! It's Halloween time again!  We made fun Halloween crafts, picked out the perfect Halloween costumes, and trick-or-treated with the best of Halloween friends.  Now all we have left is to eat all our yummy Halloween treats!  Happy Halloween! John and Owen sporting their superhero masks from library preschool craft day.  Loyd as an assassin elf  Maeve is Zoe from Fortnight.  We don't know who she is, but we know we like pink!  Skeleton Owen - Spooky, scary skeleton!  Ghost Soldier Xavier.  Careful, he has special ops skills  Moon Elf Rebekah - She sewed her own costume this year at her summer cosplay camp!  She is amazing! John as this year's chubby robot.  He is the first Cornelius kids to not scream the entire time he is in the costume.  His trick for success...he loves the smiles and laughs people get when they see him walking around

Autumn Harvest

Fall is in the air and temperatures are finally in the 70s after a long, hot summer.  Loyd was excited to get his cold weather garden planted and ready for the cooler temps, and our satsuma citrus tree was excited to ripen it's fruit a little early so we could enjoy these yummy oranges.  No one told the Yellow Elder it was Fall, so it burst into blossom like Spring all over again, attracting huge, gentle bumblebees into the yard.  What a fun October treat! Maeve had to create a character pumpkin for her 1st Grade class.  She chose her favorite character from her favorite book, The Velveteen Rabbit.  The crying pumpkin is when our Rabbit hero is thrown out, the smiling Rabbit is after Nursery Magic turns him into a real bunny, and the third rabbit is Rebekah's contribution to all the bunny love.  I love my Autumn art pumpkins!
