Hurricane Gustav

Image
We have spent a busy weekend getting ready for hurricane Gustav. It is suppose to hit Louisiana on Monday, but we wanted to make sure we had our emergency supplies and evacuation plan ready to go just in case it decides to change directions. We will evacuate the area if we go under a hurricane warning. We are checking the NHC website every few hours for updates. The weather has been perfect down here for the past week. We have enjoyed beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures every day. We'll probably get some rain for the rest of the week, but we sure enjoyed the sun today. Rebekah has made sure we play outside every day. We go out and throw around her ball and jump on the hopscotch squares we drew on the driveway until she gets hot and decides it is time for us to come inside. That usually takes us about 10 minutes. She is a lot of fun. After we finish one activity she is quick to ask, "Do now, Mommy? Do now?" She keeps me on my toes thinking up new things f

Play Hard, Sleep Longer

We have had a fun week. Rebekah learned to sing "Hello, Goodbye" by the Beatles from watching Target commercials, Loyd is the king of inch worm scooting across furniture and carpet now, we went swimming and had a ton of fun (Thanks Charlotte!), we played with our friends Libby and Charles until we couldn't stay awake any more, and Rebekah is getting really good at saying prayers all by herself. Thursday night she said the prayer before bed and she made sure she thanked Heavenly Father for food and chocolate before anything else! We know where her heart is. :) It's been a good week. We hope your week was as action packed and fun as ours was! Here is Loyd and his best little buddy, Charlie, playing very nicely on the floor mat together. Loyd has the best silly faces sometimes! Bekah played babies in her room until she literally couldn't play anymore. I peaked into her bedroom after it became suspiciously quiet for a few minutes and found her asleep with her f

Summer Comes to an End

Dustin officially starts his new contract year with the school district tomorrow. Summer is over and now we have to get back to our regular schedule. The kids have enjoyed having Daddy home during the day and it has been nice for me to use him as a baby-sitter when I had to go to meetings for Church or Visiting Teaching. We'll miss him during the day. Rebekah got a new Disney Princesses backpack and sleeping bag. She LOVES them. She sleeps in her sleeping bag at nap time and all night long. She has taken to loading up all her "babies" in the backpack and carries it around the house until she finds a new victim to play "babies" with her for a while. She cracks me up! Loyd is trying to move anywhere and fast. He is practicing pulling his knees under himself into a crawling position. It won't be long before that boy is zooming across my floor and climbing my book cases. Help! He also got his first taste of baby food peas and green beans this week. H

Busy August

This week has zipped by. The kids have been a bit antsy this week because we haven't made it out much to play. We did make it to the end of the summer reading program library party on Wednesday. Rebekah had fun petting the ferrets and eating cookies. We even got to ride the little League City train. She thought that was pretty neat. We took Loyd for his 6 month old pictures in his adorable blessing suit. Those come back from the printers on the 21st so look for those in the mail some time after then. He looks so handsome! I got a new calling this morning. This will be my 4th calling in my ward since we moved in. I am now the 1st councilor in the Primary Presidency. Wish me luck and pray for me! I'll sure need all the help I can get! Well, that's enough of us. Here is the real reason anyone looks at my blog....pictures of the kids! This face it just too funny! I would love to give him a penny for his thought here. :) Is it just me or does Rebekah look like she

Dustin's Home!

Image
We survived Dustin's last week in Tyler for Project Lead the Way training. It was a long and lonely week for us at home so we are glad he is back to keep us company and to play babies! Loyd is still working on getting his first tooth all the way through. So far it is still just a cute little speck poking up above his gum line. Poor little guy hasn't been too happy about this teething thing, but he is taking to eating cereal like a fish to water. I predict large grocery bills in my future! We also broke out the bouncy toy this week. I know you wouldn't think he loves this toy by the look on the face below, but he just has a ball bobbing up and down in it and twirling. He also loves to smash the toys on the front! Bekah is getting prettier and taller every day. She is a lot of fun and getting better with talking. Now if I ask her if she wants to use the potty and she doesn't really feel like it she will replay, "Nope, I fine" instead of screaming "
