Memorial Day at the Beach

Image
After living 45 min away from the beach for nearly a year and a half we finally made it there today! It was perfect beach weather and everything. The waves were small and slow, it wasn't too hot or too cold, and the water was around 70 degrees. We got there early enough that the beach wasn't crowded yet and we stayed until after lunch. That's when the crowds started to show up. Loyd took to the water right away. He got out of the car and headed straight for the surf. He began an expert bucket filler and pusher of the sand wagon. The kids also loved wading out into the water and watching the fish jump and the birds fly down and catch them. Loyd could hold his own against the waves but every once in a while one would catch him by surprise and knock him over. He was a good sport about it and got up with a grin. Bekah hunted lots of seashells and filled her little bucket to overflowing a few times. I guess you could call her the family shell expert. As we drove up

Art Master Work

Move over Picasso. Step aside Michelangelo. Introducing the newest and perhaps most brilliant artist to grace the earth, Rebekah! With a little (and I really mean little) more practice Rebekah will have outstripped my sad art skills. Here is her first picture where you can actually tell what it is. She colored this on her own last Sunday. Ever since then these funny little faces have found themselves scrawled on every piece of available paper, sidewalk, and garage door available. I think it's pretty good for a 3 year old. :) Loyd has enjoyed every minute he can get outside. He got the sandbox all to himself today while Rebekah took a nap. When he finally came in I had to take his pants off to wash them. A pile of sand about an inch high and 4 inches across spill on to my floor from his pockets. Silly kid!

Birthday Girl and Happy Mother's Day!

Our little Bekah turned 3 years old this week! I can't believe how fast time flies by. She is such a sweet little girl. She loves to talk and tell me all about the world around her. This week we learned about the letter A. Now everywhere we go I hear her excitedly shout, "Look Momma! I see an A!" She is getting to be so smart. She is a wonderful big sister too. She lovingly shares her treats with her brother Loyd and is good to hold his hand when we are running erands or going to play with friends. She wants to make sure he is heading in the right direction. ;>) I am very thankful she is part of our family and I am looking forward to many more birthdays to come. We love you Rebekah! We had two parties for her this week. She had a small one on her actual birthday with the family and then we had a friend swim party on Saturday. She had a ton of fun and ate way too much cake for one week. Happy Birthday baby girl! Bekah blew out all 3 candles in one go! Y
