Texas Trip - Not Enough Days - Boom! Beach Day(s)!

We soaked in the sand and the sun, reveled in the cool beach breezes, investigated local wildlife, flew kites, and all agreed it was never long enough at the beach.  

We had fun at El Jardine beach, were we thought we were bringing home a souvenir empty hermit crab shell only to discover an actual crabby inhabitant on the ride back to the rental house.  So, we also rehomed it near the Kemah Boardwalk.  

We partied at Galveston Island beach access 11 with our dear friends The Archer Family. 

A day at the beach is soothing to the soul.  And Texas Beaches are the best beaches around.

Beach Wildlife watch!  We found, hermit crabs in the dozens, a cool looking shrimp eel, and the most beautiful blue button jellyfish,

On the hunt for hermit crab friends.
Found them!  So many tiny crabs!  Must share them with the peanut gallery.  No wild crabs became pets.  They were all safely released back into the waves.

It's Christmas Time

It's the Christmas season and we did a few things to celebrate the Christmas cheer this year.  Diana and I and her friend Everett and his fun mom got a personal tour of the Ogden Christmas Village by none other than Mrs Clause herself!  We even got a train ride too!  I think it was the highlight of the season for Diana.  Then we took the entire family to Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point to enjoy the spectacular lights throughout the gardens.  As always, it was awe-inspiring!  We attended the annual Phillips Family Christmas Party.  Santa made an appearance and handed out gifts to all of the kids.  Diana was terrified of him and quickly hid behind my chair when the jolly old elf came into the room.  But, she quickly found her inner bravery and ran up to his lap when he produced a prettily wrapped present and called Diana's name.  She was not going to miss out on her very own gift.  It was so funny and so cute! This Guy is Amazing

Loyd closed out his High School experience as #4 in his class ranking!  Go Loyd!  I couldn't be more proud of him!  He has worked so hard the past 4 years.  He's held down a demanding parttime job at Ridley's Grocery store, taken on challenging college and AP classes, attending the DTC to learn more about architecture and engineering, taken time to build lasting memories with his siblings, and been the best friend ever.  And he's become a spiritual powerhouse at the same time, taking time to attend Seminary, study his scriptures and his Patriarchal Blessing daily, and never forgets to open his heart up in prayer to Heavenly Father.  This guy is amazing!  He was asked to honor an important teacher to him at the first ever Morgan High School Honors Banquet.  The spirit of gratitude and love that was there was the best feeling.  I'm so proud of Loyd and his recognition of Mrs. Heidi Miller for her love and efforts to help grow these students int...
