Cookie Sundays with Rebekah

Image
John sweetly asked, "Rebekah, you make cookies with me?" and Rebekah happily answered, "Sure! What kind of cookies do you want?" Rebekah is a very kind big sister.  She has a busy schedule, but when asked by a sweet sibling to do something with them like bake cookies (John), play Roblox games on the computer (Owen, Xavier, or Loyd), or draw together for hours at the kitchen table (Maeve) Rebekah is always game to be there for them.  She puts up a prickly teenager front sometimes, but deed down I know, we all know, she has a tender heart of gold.  I just love this daughter of mine! Maeve did and art project with water colors with John and I couldn't help but share the results.  I'm not sure if he got more paint on his face or on his paper.  Hahaha!

Happy Birthday, Maeve!!!

Maeve's golden birthday was this year!  She turned 9 years old on the 9th.  What a lucky duck!  We celebrated our smart, creative, friendly, adventurous, daughter of God with a totally fun Bird Bootcamp birthday party.  We invited her friends from her Church Primary class, a few friends from school, and our fun neighbors for a bird themed carnival.  We played lots of fun games, won tons of cool prizes, made some cute crafts, and celebrated our special Maeve.  We had so much fun making new friends and new memories together.   I have LOVED watching Maeve grow and shine her light this past year.  She is a true friend to all she meets.  Quick to smile, quick to play, and quick to forgive.  She works hard at school.  She never misses and opportunity to share her testimony of Jesus and the Book of Mormon.  She loves her family and her friends.  She loves Heavenly Father and is always works hard to do as He would have her do.  I am so proud of my Maeve and can hardly wait to see all the f

John's 1st Day of Preschool

Image
What's this I see? What did you say?! It was John's first day of preschool!   This little smarty pants started preschool for the very first time this last week and he had an absolute ball!  He was a little anxious and super excited to go.  It took him a minute to feel comfortable enough to let me leave him with this teachers, but he was all smiles and stories when I picked him up from school.  He is loving being a new student in the 3 year old class at Brightstart Preschool.  I know John is going to rock preschool!

East Canyon Reservoir Day Trip for Labor Day

Image
We couldn't let the summer end without at least one trip to East Canyon Reservoir.  We really, really, really miss our Texas beaches so we decided to give the western reservoir scene a try.  We took up a blow up boat and blow up kayak to paddle around the coldish water and a brought a few buckets and shovels to play in the sand.  We had fun paddling around the lake, especially Rebekah who was born to kayak.  The water levels were super low due to low snow  packs and drought conditions, but we had enough to play for a few hours and make some fun family memories.  It's not the Texas beach, but it was still fun.  We'll have to come more often next summer for sure!
