Sunday Miracle

Image
It was a Sunday Miracle this afternoon. Rebekah woke up from her nap and said, "I play nicely with Loyd." Then she found her brother and brought him out to play blocks with her at their little table. They shared their toys willingly and without being asked. Ah, thank goodness for small moments of sibling peace. :) On another note, we had our 24 week ultrasound on Friday. It's a boy! Loyd's getting a side kick/partner in crime. Heaven help Bekah to hold her own! I'd put a picture of the baby on the blog, but you know how ultrasound pictures tend to turn out. Nobody is completely sure what they are looking at. ;>)

Swimming Lessons - Our First Summer Activity

Image
Rebekah started parent/child swimming lessons this week. She loves swimming with Daddy. They splash around the pool with about a dozen other kids and an instructor for half an hour every day. This year they are getting more comfortable and confident in the water. She can kick around the pool by herself with the help of two water noodles, blow bubbles, and put her face under the water (like Curious George, as Rebekah is quick to tell you). It's fun to take her and see her do so well. Let's hope I can keep the enthusiasm up as this is only the first summer of many to come of driving kids to swimming lessons. :) This is a shot of Loyd's new game he invented yesterday. He dumps all the blocks out of this bucket, sticks it on his head, squeals with delight at the upcoming adrenalin rush, and then blindly runs through the house trying not to bump into anything. Once he hits some furniture he takes the bucket off and giggles like a mad man before he does it again. Silly L

Last Day of School

So, you may be asking yourself, why would we care about the last day of school? I'll save you the suspense and tell you. Dustin is a school teacher. This means that as of June 5th he now has the summer off! To celebrate his summer freedom and national donuts day we went to the Kemah Boardwalk to play in the dancing fountains and then to Shipley's Donuts for our celebratory snack (the nearest Crispy Cream was in Austin!!! I guess Houston can't be totally perfect). Here are a few pics of our fun afternoon. Loyd kept wandering away from the fountain. I don't think he was too in to playing in the water that day. He preferred to pull at the plants. We had a few rare moments where Rebekah got him into the spirit of summer. I just love this picture. Rebekah got her workout for the day. She ran around trying to catch the water as it shot up for over an hour. She was very wet and tired when we decided to leave, but she had a wonderful time. She wanted to go back the ve
