Happy Birthday Xavier!

What more can be said about quite possibly the most fantastic newly minted 17 year old out there?  Xavier amazes me every day with his steadfastness, his goodness, his ambition, his drive, his thoughtfulness, and his big heart.  Xavier has big dreams and knows he can reach them.  This year has been an adjustment and a struggle as he has adapted to his new normal as a Type 1 Diabetic, but I think we smashed it out of the park.  We had a blast at Disneyland, survived the Band trip to California, partied at Lagoon, rocked a week in the car and a week in Texas on our family road trip, and pulled off great grades at school despite missing tons of time for hospital stays, doctor appointments, and Diabetes education trainings.  I know the Spirit of the Lord has been with Xavier to bless him with peace, understanding, and patience as we learn how to navigate life with Type 1 Diabetes.  It has been a year where we have seen the goodness of Xavier's friends fill his life.  We have been touched by the understanding and help of strangers at school.  I have cherished this special gift of one-on-one time with my Xavier.  He really is the most wonderful Xavier in the whole world and I can't even begin to explain how much I truly love and adore being his mom.

It's Christmas Time

It's the Christmas season and we did a few things to celebrate the Christmas cheer this year.  Diana and I and her friend Everett and his fun mom got a personal tour of the Ogden Christmas Village by none other than Mrs Clause herself!  We even got a train ride too!  I think it was the highlight of the season for Diana.  Then we took the entire family to Luminaria at Thanksgiving Point to enjoy the spectacular lights throughout the gardens.  As always, it was awe-inspiring!  We attended the annual Phillips Family Christmas Party.  Santa made an appearance and handed out gifts to all of the kids.  Diana was terrified of him and quickly hid behind my chair when the jolly old elf came into the room.  But, she quickly found her inner bravery and ran up to his lap when he produced a prettily wrapped present and called Diana's name.  She was not going to miss out on her very own gift.  It was so funny and so cute! Sunday Miracle

It was a Sunday Miracle this afternoon. Rebekah woke up from her nap and said, "I play nicely with Loyd." Then she found her brother and brought him out to play blocks with her at their little table. They shared their toys willingly and without being asked. Ah, thank goodness for small moments of sibling peace. :) On another note, we had our 24 week ultrasound on Friday. It's a boy! Loyd's getting a side kick/partner in crime. Heaven help Bekah to hold her own! I'd put a picture of the baby on the blog, but you know how ultrasound pictures tend to turn out. Nobody is completely sure what they are looking at. ;>)

This Guy is Amazing

Loyd closed out his High School experience as #4 in his class ranking!  Go Loyd!  I couldn't be more proud of him!  He has worked so hard the past 4 years.  He's held down a demanding parttime job at Ridley's Grocery store, taken on challenging college and AP classes, attending the DTC to learn more about architecture and engineering, taken time to build lasting memories with his siblings, and been the best friend ever.  And he's become a spiritual powerhouse at the same time, taking time to attend Seminary, study his scriptures and his Patriarchal Blessing daily, and never forgets to open his heart up in prayer to Heavenly Father.  This guy is amazing!  He was asked to honor an important teacher to him at the first ever Morgan High School Honors Banquet.  The spirit of gratitude and love that was there was the best feeling.  I'm so proud of Loyd and his recognition of Mrs. Heidi Miller for her love and efforts to help grow these students int...
