Summer Arts and Crafts

We've been busy filling our summer with lots of arts and crafts, music, and baking.  It's a fun time of year to explore new hobbies and interests and make a yummy treat.  I'm so glad we can do such fun things in the summer time. 

Rebekah is working on perfecting her bread making skills.  She made yummy garlic biscuits and this amazing, beautiful chocolate babka. 
Slime making has become a popular craft/science experiment around here.  I have some professional slime makers around here.  

Maeve has been working on costume creation skills.  She invented a new cosplay category called Fluffers.  She's had fun writing up the rules and guidelines and costume ideas for her fluffers group.  
No summer would be complete without a super awesome piano recital for Maeve and Owen.  They did a great job.  I'm so proud of them for working hard to develop their musical talents.  They are awesome musicians. 


Just because, check out this pretty pre-teen we have on our hands.  Maeve is such a cutie, inside and out!

AJR Music Concert

Dustin and I took Loyd, Xavier, and Maeve to see one of their favorite bands, AJR, in concert in Salt Lake.  We went to see the AJR: Somewhere in the Sky concert!  It was so GREAT!  We had a fun listening to all the opening bands and hanging out people watching. Maeve ditched us to sit with her friend as soon as she found out she was there too.  Maeve screamed and cheered so much she was horse for the next day.  :D It was a lot of fun.  We definitely would do it again. :D

Not Much Happening In Our Neck of the Woods

Not much to tell from our end of Texas. We've just been keeping busy keeping busy. We have started doing a small story time on Wednesdays with a few friends. The kids love it. Rebekah likes spending time with the other kids and Loyd adores doing the finger plays. I'm sure Great Grandma Young is helping him learn all the actions. He's really quite good at them and picks up the plays rather quickly. Loyd also went in for his 18 month old well baby visit. Everything is looking good for our young man. He is tall and skinny and seems to be ahead of the curve on his developmental milestones. The pediatrician was impressed. Rebekah is turning into quite the social butterfly. She loves to play with her friends. She would have them come over every day, all day if she could. When they have to go home she turns to Loyd and spends the rest of the afternoon telling him what to do. Thanksgiving Point Has Given Us A Great Year

Last Christmas we were gifted a Thanksgiving Point family membership and we weren't really sure how often we were going to use it. Once, maybe twice?  Well, at the end of this fun year of Thanksgiving Point fun we have gone 19 times!   We celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, and extended family time here this year.  We had fun visiting all of the different museums, playing on the many kid adventure sites, riding ponies - real and carrousel ones-, watching outdoor movies, roaming the beautiful gardens, learning all about dinosaurs, discovering the tulip festival, holding butterflies in our own hands, having our testimonies touched by the sculpture gardens, and being wowed by the Christmas lights of Luminaria.     It's been an awesome year!  Thanks Thanksgiving Point!
