And the Winner Is....

It's awards season and the Cornelius kids are doing their best to bring home some awesome awards and medals for all of their hard work this year.
Xavier competed in his second science fair and made it to the Region level for competition.  He delved into the science behind how to pop the most popcorn for your buck and won an award for Excellence with his project.  Yea, Xavier!
Rebekah represented Morgan High School as their Computer Science and Technology Sterling Scholar.  She worked super hard to put together a very impressive portfolio of her high school experience, gave a solid interview, and won runner up for our education Region.   I couldn't be more proud of Rebekah and all of he hard work she put in to make her Sterling Scholar goal come true!
Sterling Scholar wasn't all she did.  She competed in her final High School science fair with a continuation of her project on Cyber Security topics.  It's too technical for me to understand all the ins and outs of it.  She took home a third place medal in her subject area (combined this year with 4 other subject areas) and special awards from Yale and the US Air Force.  Way to go, Rebekah!

I'm proud of these kids for getting outside of their comfort zones, putting in extra work on their academics, and trying their best to grow and increase their knowledge.  These are a a pair of pretty smart cookies!

It's About Time We Got Some Snow Around Here

It's been a bit of a warm and dry winter, until our latest epic snow storm!!  We didn't get as much snow as high elevations, but I'm happy with 9 inches in 3 days.  Diana is all in when it comes to playing in the snow, the little boys have been busy as beavers digging snow forts, and Maeve has found that digging out snow paths with her friend Lilly is a great way to "chill" during the afternoon.  :D  The big kids have been busy helping Dustin and I keep the street shoveled out.  Dustin wakes up early every morning to use my Dad's snow plow to clear all of the sidewalks on our street  before the kids have to walk to school. The kids and I have been working hard to keep our driveway and the driveways of some of our elder neighbors cleared after all of this wonderful snowfall.  It's been a fun wintertime treat.  The ward to the child who shoveled the most for this storm goes to Rebekah!  She's a pretty awesome snow shoveler despite her preference for warm

Fun Moments Around the House

Xavier is getting down to work on this year's science fair project.  He's testing to see which oil is best for popping popcorn.  It's important science. John and Diana are enjoying playtime inside boxes, because boxes are the best, of course! John is starting to have fun playdates with friends from the neighborhood.  It's so fun to find good friends who share a love in all things Paw Patrol!
