Miss Maeve and Pete the Cat

This week Maeve, Owen and I had a lot of fun at the library's Pete the Cat preschool book party!  We had a ton of fun listening to and then voting on two Pete the Cat books, making Pete the Cat hats, playing Pin the Button on Pete, making our own dot art, and exploring colors, Pete the Cat style.  It was a great afternoon of literacy enhancing fun, because it's all good.  :D

 
 



I also thought it would be fun to take a minute and share some of my favorite recent toddler Maeve conversational moments.

First Sibling Fight with Owen
Owen = 8 months old
Maeve = 2.75 years old

Owen:  La, la, la, la (happily, loudly, with occasionally blown raspberries)
Maeve: Owen, stop it! (said with a demanding screech)
Owen: La, la, la (unfazed and unaware of his big sister's growing angst)
Maeve: Stop!  You're being annoying! (loudly, and with practiced wining voice)
Owen: Blows raspberries, La, la, raspberries, la la la (cheerfully)
Maeve: Mom! Baby Owen spit! (indignantly)
Owen: La, la, la, la (loudly and happily)
This is Your Brain on Toddler
Me: What do you want to eat for lunch, Maeve?
Maeve: Ummm, Hot dog!
Me: You want a hot dog?
Maeve: Nope, thanks.
She can't tell me "yes" to save her life!
Where are you Going?
While we were getting everyone ready to get in the car Dustin and Maeve had this conversation in the house.  
Maeve: Where you going?
Dustin: I'm going crazy.
Maeve: I come too!

It's About Time We Got Some Snow Around Here

It's been a bit of a warm and dry winter, until our latest epic snow storm!!  We didn't get as much snow as high elevations, but I'm happy with 9 inches in 3 days.  Diana is all in when it comes to playing in the snow, the little boys have been busy as beavers digging snow forts, and Maeve has found that digging out snow paths with her friend Lilly is a great way to "chill" during the afternoon.  :D  The big kids have been busy helping Dustin and I keep the street shoveled out.  Dustin wakes up early every morning to use my Dad's snow plow to clear all of the sidewalks on our street  before the kids have to walk to school. The kids and I have been working hard to keep our driveway and the driveways of some of our elder neighbors cleared after all of this wonderful snowfall.  It's been a fun wintertime treat.  The ward to the child who shoveled the most for this storm goes to Rebekah!  She's a pretty awesome snow shoveler despite her preference for warm

Fun Moments Around the House

Xavier is getting down to work on this year's science fair project.  He's testing to see which oil is best for popping popcorn.  It's important science. John and Diana are enjoying playtime inside boxes, because boxes are the best, of course! John is starting to have fun playdates with friends from the neighborhood.  It's so fun to find good friends who share a love in all things Paw Patrol!
