Rebekah: The Crafty Cornelius

Image
Bekah has been busy practicing and developing her many talents lately.  She loves all things creative and can't get enough of arts and crafts.  Here are just a few of her recent accomplishments.   Bekah is modeling her latest sewing project.  She made these cute jungle PJs by herself.  She said her favorite part is the cute little bow on the front.  She was so excited to get these done that she wore them for 2 days straight.  Good thing we finished them on a holiday weekend.  ;) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Bekah found a how-to book of crafts in our home library.  She has eagerly done 2-3 projects from the book every day.  She reads the instructions, gathers the materials, and makes her masterpieces all by herself.  She is very creative and has a ingenious mind for solving problems.    This is Maeve sporting her Earth Day crown that Rebekah made just for her.  Bekah made a matching one for her to wear too...

Thumb Sucking Strikes Again and Annual Barn Fieldtrip Fun

Image
Well, it's official.  Maeve is a thumb sucker.  I have documented evidence.  That makes my count of thumb/finger sucking children come to 3/4.  They all have their own particular style.  I just hope they all quit before they get baptized. ;)  In any case, I'm sure Dustin will be rethinking his profession when the orthodontia bills start rolling in.  ;)  Just couldn't resist.  I had to include a cute smiling baby Maeve picture.  She's my little doll.  :) Loyd and Xavier have been having a lot of fun playing trains together lately.  They help each other build some pretty neat, long tracks and then drive their happy trains on important errands.  It makes me smile when I see them playing so well together.  It's moments like this I have to remember when I hear Xavier hollering down the hall, "Mom!  Loyd hit me!" and Loyd yelling back, "Xavier's taking all my toys!  He has to share!"  Ah, the joys o...

Invasion of Angry Birds Space!

Image
Note Xavier's Saturn V rocket toy.  He takes it everywhere and even sleeps with it.  It is his new favorite toy, along with his Dr. Who TARDIS, of course.  He's such a cool kid.  :)  Xavier, Maeve and I went to Space Center while everyone else was at school this week.  Xavier was in Rocket heaven.  Basically, NASA Space Center is almost as exciting as Disney Land for our little rocket enthusiast.  We watched rocket movies, explored math and music experiments, played in the big climbing toy, built with Legos, tried on real replicas of space helments (which are not lite, by the way), and pretended to be Space Angry Birds.  We had a ton of fun and were sad to go, but there is always next week now that we have a season pass.  :) Here is the Angry Bird Space Gang.  Those Bad Piggies better watch out for this upset crew!  :)

Christmas Crochet Extravaganza

Image
We took the kids to Space Center this week.  The mock-up training shuttle is happily parked next to the space center now that the shuttle missions are over.  It was pretty exciting to be so close to such a complex and historic machine.  Xavier couldn't help himself from running up to every person he saw and exclaiming, "Shuttle!  Shuttle!  Rocket!  Rocket!"  Xavier loved this trip to Space Center far more than anyone else.  Each rocket explosion and launch into space was greeted with squeals of delight and jumps of excitement.  He's smitten by NASA.  I guess I know where I have to take Xavier after we drop Loyd off for preschool.  ;) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Yarn + Time = Crochet Bonanza at the Cornelius Home I finished the tan blanket earlier this year, but the garden granny square didn't get completed until last Saturday.  It is one of the most time consuming projects I've undertaken.  I...
