Hurricane Gustav

We have spent a busy weekend getting ready for hurricane Gustav. It is suppose to hit Louisiana on Monday, but we wanted to make sure we had our emergency supplies and evacuation plan ready to go just in case it decides to change directions. We will evacuate the area if we go under a hurricane warning. We are checking the NHC website every few hours for updates.

The weather has been perfect down here for the past week. We have enjoyed beautiful sunshine and warm temperatures every day. We'll probably get some rain for the rest of the week, but we sure enjoyed the sun today. Rebekah has made sure we play outside every day. We go out and throw around her ball and jump on the hopscotch squares we drew on the driveway until she gets hot and decides it is time for us to come inside. That usually takes us about 10 minutes. She is a lot of fun. After we finish one activity she is quick to ask, "Do now, Mommy? Do now?" She keeps me on my toes thinking up new things for us to play all day. I'm getting really good at playing "babies." ;>)

Loyd is trying more new foods every day. Today he had sweet potatoes for the first time and the lad thought he had died and gone to heaven! He usually eats about half of a jar of Stage 2 baby food for dinner. Today he ate 1 and 1/2 jars of the stuff. If I put the spoon down for a moment to help Rebekah he launched into a fit. He couldn't wait for me to get the next spoon full to him! This week he has also started eating soda crackers. He loves sitting in his high chair at the counter with the rest of the family at dinner and happily gumming down his crackers. He loves being part of the family. He brings a lot of energy and happiness to our little home.

Well, here is the real reason anyone looks on our site. Enjoy some pictures!

Bekah is going to give Daddy a kiss on the cheek. I tried to get a picture of the kiss, but she is a super quick smoocher!

Here she is demonstrating her flexibility. It is getting harder to take pictures of our cute little gal because she is so eager to see her picture on the camera that she moves before I can get the picture taken. Does anyone know any tricks of the trade to get the child to stay put for 5 seconds?! :)

Now, who couldn't love a happy smiley kid like this! These are the kind of smiles he gives Rebekah. She is standing by me while I take the picture. I told her to make Loyd smile so she said "Hi" and he flashed her one of these grins. They are so fun together. I can't wait until they can do more playing together.

Ah, here is Loyd and his favorite past time. He LOVES to suck his thumb while cuddling one of his burp cloths. This is how he sleeps, digests his food, comforts himself, or just relaxes. I like to think of him as my very own little Linus. He must get the blanky gene from me!
