Eventful Week

Image
Quotes of the Week Rebekah: "How do dogs get puppies? Do they lay eggs like birds?" Loyd: "Well, I better go to work." Mom: "What do you do at work?" Loyd: "You know, I build robots all day long, like Daddy." Birthday Boy of the Week Party of the Week To celebrate our sweet little boy's birthday we all ate way too much sugar and the boys had a great time playing with Loyd's new Star Wars light-sabers that light up and go "Shwing!" We also had a party for him on Saturday. We had a great time. The theme was bugs. We invited lots of his little friends over and built bug jars and bug binoculars. Then, we went on a bug hunt and captured lots and lots of bugs. It was a really rainy day so the bug hunt had to be relocated from the backyard to the front room. The kids had fun. It was funny to see them giggle, squeal and flinch as they found and collected plastic cockroaches and dragonflies and happily plopped them into the...

Outdoor Bowling

Image
There was no preschool this week so we had to get creative to keep Loyd busy. He decided he wanted to play outdoor bowling. He set up his own pins (and even became one) while Xavier attempted to knock them down with the bike trailer flag. Silly boys. Future world champion bowling league winners. Happy Valentine's Day!

The Aquarium

Image
Loyd had his first big Trooper School field trip this week. We all went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium to see lots of beautiful sea life. Xavier was fascinated with everything. He ran from observation window to observation window shouting, "Oh! Look! Oh! Look!" Loyd just ran. He made 3 laps around the entire Aquarium in the time it took Xavier and I to see 2/3 of it. Thank goodness Loyd had his own personal trip chaperone to keep up with his energy. :) I couldn't resist getting a picture of Loyd in the shark cage. There's something comforting in knowing he's stuck in one spot for a minute. :) I had a difficult time getting pictures of the boys' faces. They didn't want to look at me. They wanted to watch the fish and squeal at the water acrobatics of the seals and penguins. I can't say I blame them. I had fun watching the animals too. They are way more fun to watch than boring old mommy. It was a fun field trip. We had a great time and ...

Back to School

Image
This week I took the plunge and started back to school. I'm starting a program to earn my Masters in Library Science. Though I'm very excited to be back in school, I can see that it's going to stretch all of my time management skills to keep all the balls in the air with family, church, friends, and school. It should be an interesting adventure! This week gave me a great chance to test my time management skills. Among other fun activities, Xavier and I were able to tag along with Loyd's preschool to visit the High School barn. We had a ball seeing all of the cows, bulls, chickens, turkeys, pigs, sheep, and goats. It was interesting to hear about individual animals from the students who had raised and cared for them. The boys had to touch every animals and Xavier got quit good at his cow impersonation. He certainly had a lot of practice in the barn. :) We also had an opportunity to glow in pride over Rebekah. She was one of two children picked from her class t...

New Year Adventures

Image
Grandma and Grandpa P came for a fun Christmas visit. We all had so much fun and enjoyed every minute of the rare grandparent time we could get. We also took the opportunity to show Grandma and Grandpa around some of our favorite places to play. Here are a few pictures of where we went. We were lucky to enjoy some amazingly warm and sunny weather after Christmas. We made sure to take advantage of our good luck. On Wednesday, we took a trip to the local beach. We were rewarded with a breathtaking sunset. The children were busy finding precious seashells and the parents were busy tracking the different kinds of bird tracks in the sand. After a time of relaxing beach strolling, Bekah startled us all out of our reverie with two quick, high pitched, panicked screams of death. Everyone jumped and thought for sure some terrible turn of fate had ruined our evening. It turns out, Bekah turned over a rock to reveal an unexpected nest of fast running bugs. They gave her a pretty good s...

The Best Christmas Gift of All

Image
I want to open by sharing a little conversation between Bekah and Dustin on Christmas Eve regarding the true meaning of Christmas. I hope it sheds some historic light on this magical season. Dustin: Do you know what Santa Clause represents? Bekah: Yes, he represents Jesus. Dustin: Do you know what present Jesus gave us? I'll give you a hint. It's the best gift of all. Bekah: Yes! He gave us Santa Clause! We've had a busy week. Here are some of the highlights. On Tuesday, we went to the League City library and made gram cracker houses. We had a super fun time decorating our little houses in candy and cereal. Not to mention how much we fun we had eating the yummy frosting. We probably ate more frosting than we put on the houses! We could hardly wait to get our creations home to devour them! Grandma and Grandpa P came into town on Wednesday for the holiday season. We've been busy showing them around town. On Thursday, we went to the Dickinson festival of lights...
