The Best Christmas Gift of All

I want to open by sharing a little conversation between Bekah and Dustin on Christmas Eve regarding the true meaning of Christmas. I hope it sheds some historic light on this magical season.

Dustin: Do you know what Santa Clause represents?
Bekah: Yes, he represents Jesus.
Dustin: Do you know what present Jesus gave us? I'll give you a hint. It's the best gift of all.
Bekah: Yes! He gave us Santa Clause!

We've had a busy week. Here are some of the highlights.

On Tuesday, we went to the League City library and made gram cracker houses. We had a super fun time decorating our little houses in candy and cereal. Not to mention how much we fun we had eating the yummy frosting. We probably ate more frosting than we put on the houses!

We could hardly wait to get our creations home to devour them!

Grandma and Grandpa P came into town on Wednesday for the holiday season. We've been busy showing them around town. On Thursday, we went to the Dickinson festival of lights and had a great time seeing all of the beautiful, illuminated displays. I especially liked the Christmas armadillo. He had a ten gallon cowboy hat an everything! To get to the festival we rode on a shuttle from a nearby school parking lot to the park where the lights was set up. The shuttle was a school bus driven by a friendly volunteer. Loyd was so excited to be on a school bus going to see Christmas lights that he kept knocking his head against the glass as he peered out the window. Silly, excited Loyd.

We've also been on a few walks to the bayou to investigate the local wild life. So far we've discovered a very domineering goose, three very hen pecked ducks, and an adorable Xavier.

Dustin treated us to a beautiful, delicious smoked ham for our Christmas Eve feast. It was a really yummy ham. Thanks Grandpa P for the new Bar-B-Q smoker. Thanks Dustin for making us such a delicious main dish!

After dinner, the kids made reindeer donuts for Santa Clause. Bekah and Loyd made the faces with frosting all by themselves. Xavier was a pro at attaching pretzel antlers. Santa told me he enjoyed his treat very much. :D

Christmas day arrived early with excitement and smiles. We made a big mess of wrapping paper and cardboard boxes. The kids have had a fun morning of exploring their new toys. The adults enjoyed the beautiful Christmas program at Church and the happy giggle from the children as they played with their new toys.

We've had a fun week, but as you can see, all this festive fun has made a few of us go a little wacky. :)

We wish you a Merry Christmas and our sincerest hope that you aren't too wacky from all the seasonal cheer yet. ;P
