Pandemic Homeschool Update

Pandemic induced home schooling is still moving forward.

Rebekah has really been awesome about being responsible to get her high school work done every day, even working ahead of schedule and completing her classes way ahead of the end of each term.  She is such a hard worker and a diligent student.  I am proud of her.  Not to mention she makes my job as her home school mentor super easy.

Loyd and Xavier and plugging away at homeschool middle school.  Loyd wizzes through his daily work in no time at all and then spends the rest of his day enjoying life as a teenager who doesn't have to be to school at 7:20AM.  Xavier is very diligent to get his school work done every day first thing in the morning without prompting or reminders.  He works hard and does his best because that is the kind of person he is.  I'm proud of his work ethic and his desire to do well in school.

Maeve and Owen are in elementary and need much more supervision and help to get their work done each day.  Maeve does really well to get her assignments done each day, but she does need my help to schedule her day and tell her which subject to work on next.  I love her thirst and excitement for learning.  Maeve's favorite subject is writing.  She has a brain bursting with wonderful, exciting stories that are eager to be told.  Owen and I sit together working on Kindergarten.  He needs my full attention to keep him on task and to work through the complex and exciting process of learning how to read.  He has worked so hard this year even though it has been frustrating and challenging at times for both of us.  He has made such great progress and I have enjoyed watching him learn how to read and expand his world of possibilities.  He is excited to go to 1st Grade in person next year and his favorite subject has been the end of the school day.  :)

We also tried to throw a virtual Valentine's Day class party for Maeve and Owen.  I got the cute idea from Aunt Jenny and the cute parties she was throwing for her online 3rd Graders.  She's such a great teacher!  We got some fun crafts, games, and treats that we should all share together on Zoom.  We thought it was would be fun, but none of the other online students wanted to party with us.  Oh well, we tried and we still had fun having a family Valentine Party instead.
