Surprise Visit from Grandma and Grandpa Phillips!

Grandma and Grandpa surprise us on April 30th with a super fun two week visit.  We were so glad they came and had so much fun.  They drove all the way from Utah and the kids and I didn't even know they were coming until they were 30 minutes away in Friendswood, TX on FM5018.  Dustin and my parents had planned the whole last minute fun trip without us knowing.  It was just the kind of fun we needed.  :)

They joined us for action packed Saturday mornings of soccer game fun.

We ate lots and lots of yummy food, including baked potatoes that were the size of a dinner plate!  I think that was Bekah's favorite dinner night.  :)

We went for lots of walks down to the neighborhood boat ramp to check out the local wildlife and count the jumping fish.

We hit the beach to enjoy the sun, sand, and surf during this beautiful warm, spring weather.

Look at these two handsome beach dudes.  :)
We even saw some dead jellyfish washed up on the shore.  We were very careful not to step on them, but we sure had fun exploring them with some sticks and curiosity.  This jelly fish was quite large.  It was about the size of my foot.
We all went out for a fun lunch at the Kemah Boardwalk Aquarium Restaurant in honor of Rebekah's 11th birthday.
It sure is hard to get kids to eat their fish sticks when they would much rather watch the fish swim around.  :)

We celebrated our favorite 11 year old's special day.  We marked Rebekah's birthday with delicous chocolate cake and presents for our special girl.

Sometimes waiting for your slice of birthday cake can seem like forever.  :)

We got to show off our beautiful Texas Bluebonnets blooming in the front garden.

We worked on and completed two projects to beautify my front room - refinishing one of the book cases and recovering the glider chair and ottoman.  Thank you, Mom!  These beautiful projects wouldn't have been done without your amazing talents and skills and ideas!  My living room is so beautiful now!

After all of that fun and excitement with Grandma and Grandpa P we had to catch a catnap or two in the car when we could.  :)

No one was very happy to see Grandma and Grandpa go when the appointed day arrived.  We would keep them forever if they would let us.
The parting was only made barable with the promises of a summer time visit to Utah to drink in their love and attention and spend lots and lots of time playing with wonderful cousins and aunts and uncles.

We are so glad that Grandma and Grandpa P brightened up our May with a fun surprise visit to our beloved Texas.  We are so lucky and blessed to have such wonderful grandparents.  We'll leave them with Grandma Zoie's timeless advice, "Take your time going, but hurry on back!"
