Happy Birthday Loyd!

Image
It's great to be 8!  Loyd turned 8 and in order to celebrate we had a big, fun Dr. Who themed birthday party!   Here are our goody bags for all our guests.  They say, "Fesses are Red. The TARDIS is blue.  Bow ties are cool, and so are you!"  We played fun minute-to-win-it games to hone our time lord powers...  ...competed for the coolest cup tower to showcase our spacial powers, and....  ...ended with an epic game of Dr Who Dodge Ball, with our teams being Dr Whos vs. Monsters.  A fun time was had by all, especially the birthday boy who ended his timie-wymie party bonanza of 25 of is closest friends from Church with lots of generous birthday gifts.  :) Loyd - Birthday Selfie This little boy is our Master's Course in parenting.  He has a heart full of love and fun.  He's bright, and knows how to work hard to solve any problem.  He is amazing at leading people and treating others with an open ...

Before Marshmallow and After Marshmallow

Image
We found these crazy big marshmallows of insane bigness and had to buy a bag to check them out.  This is what happens when you give an Owen a marshmallow. Before After         I can't even describe how sticky this little boy was after 5 minutes with that marshmallow.  We were scrubbing out sticky marshmallow from his hair for a few days.  :)

Happy Valentine's Day

Dustin was a super big sweetie this year and surprised me on Valentine's day with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and 19 love notes hidden around the house.  I think I'll keep my amazing hubby.  :)  Love you, Dustin!

Eagerly Anticipated Reunion and Lion Dance for the New Year

Image
On their way through town to go on a fabulous cruise our dear friends, the Lee Family, were able to squeeze in time to come over for dinner and games with us!  It was the best to have time to catch up on what's new in their life after their move out of TX and to play.  They are some of the dearest and closest friends we have ever made and truly miss having them live nearby.  Oh well, at least they have to stop and see us if they ever want to go on a cruise vaccation.  :)  We also got to see a professional Lion Dance for the Chinese New Year at the Freeman-Memorial Branch Library.  It was a super fun to welcome in the new year of the Monkey!

Fun Birthday for Me!

Image
What a fabulous birthday I had this year!  My cute friends from Church threw a birthday brunch for me where we got to eat AMAZING waffles with Nutella and whipped cream and enjoy a fun morning/afternoon talking and having fun.  Then, I had a relaxing afternoon of reading while babies slept.  Then, Dustin made us all dinner and surprised me with a cool Garmin VivoFit to help me track my fitness goals.  Yea for starting the process of finally loosing my baby weight from Owen!  And the piece de resistance to a loved filled day was the arrival of my first eatable arrangement sent from y amazing friend Lyndee!  We were all so surprised by the fun treat and couldn't eat the chocolate covered fruit bouquet fast enough.  :)  I am so grateful for wonderful, thoughtful friends and family who helped make my day so great!  Thank you!  Something tells me Owen enjoyed the chocolate dipped fruit the most.  :)

Star Trek Silliness

This t-shirt from Aunt Loretta and Uncle Royal tends to be true more often than I would like it to be, but at least we always get a laugh out of it!  :) Live long and prosper, dudes!

Xavier's First Lost Tooth!

Image
Xavier lost his first baby tooth on Thursday!  He woke up for school Thursday morning and his tooth popped right out before he was even done stretching in bed.  :)  Hew as so excited!  We've spent the last two weeks getting daily wiggle updates on the progress of this tooth from him.  After the tooth fell out we had to convince Xavier not to take it to school for show and tell, and then we had to convince Maeve that it wasn't her tooth fairy tooth.   There was a lot of convincing that went on with this exciting milestone.  :)  Xavier excitedly put his tooth under his pillow that night.  We are happy to report that the Tooth Fairy was on the ball this week and left him $1 in exchange for his well brushed, cavity free tooth.  It has been so fun to see Xavier excitedly thrill at this new step toward growing up.  :)

Some Family Firsts for the First Week of February

Loyd in his new Cub Scout Uniform Loyd turns 8 years old this month and that means he gets to start going to Cub Scouts now.  Grandpa P made sure Loyd had all the right Cub Scout uniform gear (Thank You Grandpa!!!).  That was a huge help and a blessing to this clueless new Scout mom.  Our first official scout meeting happened to be the Blue and Gold banquet.  So Loyd started off his Scouting experience with a Star Ward Jedi themed bang.  So much fun for the boys! Jedi Scout Loyd at the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet   Owen had fun learning about Star Wars at the scout banquet too and has been spending most of his time practicing his mad light saber skills on Maeve's bed. Her bed is the most fun to jump on in the house.  Maeve decided it was time to help a busy mom out and took upon herself the job of feeding Baby O his lunch.  She's quite good at it and I think they both got a kick out of the novelty of it all. :)  Yea for...

January in Southeast Texas - It's Pretty Beautiful!

Image
This month Owen has been working on putting himself into anything that might resemble a box or container. He loves to sit in the blocks buckets, the kitchen toy drawer, and of course the empty popcorn tin we now use for toy animal storage.  This little boy cracks me up all the time with the places he thinks he needs to fold himself up and sit for a while.  :D However, don't be fooled that he happily stores himself away to safely play with toys for an afternoon.  Owen has also been spending a great deal of time developing his climbing skills.  He's quite good at finding objects around the room he can turn into portable step ladders to get to where he wants to go.  I've had to run to his rescue and save his life even when he isn't aware that his life is in danger on more than one occasion.  I now start to worry when things get a little too quiet around the house.  I never know where I'll find this little boy next!       Reb...
