The first day felt like four days, and the second day felt like two days, the third day felt like....
I doesn't feel like it has only been a week since my last post. We've had an action packed time.
On Monday we went to the library and saw Frosty the Snowman come to life! It was a fun comedy magic show for the little kids. The kids laughed and laughed. They even got to do the limbo with Frosty's magic broom at the end!
Xavier was so convinced that Frosty was a real snowman that he had to make sure to get his picture with that chilly fellow to have proof to show to Loyd and Rebekah when they got home from school. We are so glad we were able to go to such a fun event.
On Monday I also won over another anti-banana convert. While snacking on a banana and walking around outside, Maeve tripped and managed to cut her lip on her teeth pretty good. She hasn't been that interested in bananas since. I tried to get a picture of the damage, but this is the best I could do. Even injured she seems to find a great smile to give the camera. :D Don't let that pretty face fool you. Believe me, it was intense. There was blood and smashed banana everywhere!
Tuesday was another cold weather day. School was canceled so we enjoyed a leisurely day snuggled up at home. I taught the kids about the joys of space heaters, coats fresh from the drier, and dry socks. We also enjoyed yummy hot chocolate. Yea!
Wednesday was Karate night. The kids are learning how to kick, punch, and duck. I'm learning how to properly put on a Karate uniform, how to tie their belts the right way, and how to keep a 4 year old and a 17 month old busy for an hour in a gym.
Friday we went to the elementary school to see the kids show off the fun things they learned and did during special subject clusters last semester. Rebekah learned all about the ocean, especially sea shells. She really enjoyed doing crafts with the shells like decorating a picture frame, making a seashell necklace, and making an "Ocean in a Bottle" terrarium.
On Saturday Dustin recruited some of the finest weed pulling help in the county. Maeve and Loyd pulled and pulled those weeds in the lawn. They worked tirelessly and enjoyed every minute with their Daddy. We are very thankful for cheerful helpers and diligent workers. Way to go Loyd and Maeve!
On Saturday Xavier also got Daddy into trouble:
Mommy: Teasing Xavier, "Xavier, it's your turn to change Maeve's diaper."
Xavier: Very serious reply, "No, I'm not a girl!"
Daddy: After getting a look from me, "Come on Xavier. We've got to go change Maeve's diaper. Boys change diapers too."
From that fateful sentence on Dustin has been changing all of the baby diapers when he's home, and making sure Xavier sees him do it. Dad totally got busted!
What a week!
