Green Eggs and Ham
In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday we had green eggs and ham for dinner. This is an actual conversation Rebekah and I had regarding our entree. Everything Bekah said was said in full seriousness, unaware of its implications.
Rebekah, with not a small amount of hesitation: "What is it?"
Me: "It's green eggs and ham. Isn't that cool!"
Rebekah, very serious: "I do not like green eggs and ham. I will will not try them."
Me, with a gleam in my eye: "Try them, try them. You may like them."
Rebekah, firmly: "I do not like green eggs and ham. I will not try them."
Me, pointing to different chairs at the counter: "Will you try them here or there?"
Rebekah: "No, I will not try them anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham."
I think Dr Seuss was smiling at our dinner. :) Rebekah eventually took a baby bite and decided to ditch the green eggs on her plate and just eat the ham and cheese. Silly girl. :)
We also made our own celebratory Thing 1 and Thing 2 shirts. Rebekah's school wanted the kids to dress up like Dr. Seuss characters on Friday and this was the fastest, cheapest, and cutest costume idea I could come up with at the last minute. I knew if I was going to make one Dr. Seuss shirt for Bekah the boys would want one too, so we had a craft extravaganza. Good thing fabric paint and plain t-shirts are cheep. ;) Everyone did their own hands on their shirt, except Maeve. Xavier kindly obliged to lend us his hand for an extra "Thing." Everyone else's hands were too big to fit on the onsie.
Xavier was so excited to wear his that he hardly slept that night. It killed him he had to wait for the paint to dry. As they slept I drew the faces on their Things. When Xavier woke up he was very put out to find that someone drew on his beautiful t-shirt. Dustin had to explain to him that we were suppose to do that and that his shirt still looked cool. After that Xavier was fine. ;)
You can also see that our beautiful peach tree is blooming. When the first buds opened Loyd ran out to the tree hunting for peaches. He LOVES our summer peaches from our little tree. He checks the tree every day to see if it has made us yummy, juicy, sun warmed peaches yet. Poor kid, it's going to be a long wait until July. :)
