Another year has sped past at impossible speed and it is time for the
annal holiday update again. A friend recently pointed out to me that we
are always going to be busy, so we might as well be busy doing things
we enjoy. I thought I would take this opportunity to share with you a
few of the fun things we have been enjoying to keep us busy this past
year.

Dustin and the kids in front of a holiday flamingo at the Dickinson Festival of Lights this year. |
Dustin: Dustin recently finished his program for National Board
Teaching Certification. We are all very proud of him. He completed the
process and testing in half the time of most applicants, and passed
with very high marks his first time through. He has also been busy with
teaching at the high school, mentoring two robotics teams, and teaching
a robotics summer camp for the school district. He has worked really
hard this year to earn his Christmas break. :)

Audrey and the kids at another lights display at this year's Festival of Lights. |
Audrey: I have been having all sorts of fun keeping up with 4 cute,
funny, and sometimes challenging children. In January I took on the
task of being Primary Secretary at Church. This calling has provided me
with a huge learning opportunity, but I am happy to serve where I'm
needed. I also went back to school and started working on my Master's
degree in Library Science this year. I am loving the course work and
learning so much about the field of library science. Each semester
brings new adventures and challenges in juggling school, church, social,
and home life, but it has been fun. So far I am half way finished with
my program.

Rebekah and Maeve in front of the Christmas tree. |
Rebekah: Rebekah started the 1st grade. She has done amazing work in
her subjects and made a lot of new, fun friends. She is also taking
piano lessons and working on her crafting skills. She learned how to
sew on a machine and made a cute shirt, an angry bird pillow, and a bag
so far this year with her new-found sewing skills. She still loves to
make arts and crafts and draw, and has recently begun dabbling with
writing fun stories with her newly acquired literacy skills.

Gotta love this kid's charisma. |
Loyd: Loyd is in his second year of Trooper School preschool. He
is a good student and very popular among his classmates, especially the
little girls. He's quite the lady's man. His friendly ways and
exciting ideas make him a great friend to have around. He has adored
having a new baby in the house, and smothers his baby sister with near
constant love and adoration. Wherever Maeve is, Loyd is sure to be
near. He joined his first soccer team this Spring. It was lots of fun
to enjoy the warm weather and remind Loyd to stand up by the goal and to
please chase the ball. :)

Our little Mr. X all ready for Christmas. |
Xavier: Xavier is growing like a weed and keeping me company at home
while everyone else is at school. He wouldn't want his dear old mom to
get too lonely in an empty house. ;) He loves trains, planes,
automobiles, and rockets (That last item is required if you live near
NASA. Santa left him a Saturn V rocket for Christmas and Xavier was
over the moon with excitement about it.). Anything that is mechanical
and has moving parts are his favorite. He also has been working on
potty training. He is growing up so quickly! His happy attitude and
winning smile brighten any day.

Maeve getting smothered by love. |
Maeve: Maeve joined our little family this September. We are all
adoring getting to know and love her. She is a very happy little girl
and well loved by everyone. We just don't know what we did without her.

Loyd and Xavier showing some brotherly love. |

I hope this Christmas season finds you safe and well.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I couldn't resist these last two pictures. It looks like we have an early adopter and a born teacher at our house. Oh, what did the world do before tablet devices? ;p
|
Loyd decided that it was about time for Maeve to learn how to use the tablet. |
|
I think she got the hang of it. :) |
