Is it Halloween yet?

We are still adoring having a baby in the house again.  It is not uncommon for Loyd to be kissing his sweet little sister every time he sees her.  If I hapen to be holding her and he can't reach her soft little head, then he kisses her hand or her little feet to satisfy his need to show his imense affection for his sweet baby Maeve.  Loyd is an adoring big brother.

Bekah and I worked together to successfully complete her first book report this week.  All the first graders at her school were sent home with instructions to decorate a pumpkin like a character from a book, then bring it back to school to be displayed in the school library.  Rebekah picked the book Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes and decided how she wanted to decorate her pumpkin.  I helped her draw the outline of Pete the Cat onto her pumpkin and she did all the painting.  I think he looks pretty awesome.  Bekah was super excited to see the completed project because, as she put it, "He looks like the author drew it!"  It's amazing what fun can be had with a pumpkin and some crayola finger paint.  ;)

The boys and I are taking advantage of this beautiful Autumn weather with lots of trips to the park and walks around the neighborhood.  It's a wonderful thing to have your best friend also be your brother.  What lucky boys.

This weekend we had the chance to attend the Imagination Celebration hosted by the school district.  They set up a huge cafeteria with 14 different craft stations and let the children explore their artistic side.  The activity was free, our favorite price, and the craft/art ideas were so smart!  My favorite was the bean mosaics.  They cut Bristol board into small squares and glued magnets on the back.  They then presented the kids with an array of dried beans and seeds, along with some tacky glue.  The kids used their imaginations to come up with whatever design they wanted on their little mosaics.

We ended up spending the whole morning excitedly going from one activity to the next at the Imagination Celebration.  Maeve couldn't do any of the projects but she liked walking around in the front carrier looked at all of the happy activity going on around her.  The older kids were perfectly behaved and I received lots of sympathetic, kind comments on how busy I must be with 4 kids.  I agreed that I did have my hands full, but at least were were having fun while doing it (most of the time).  :)  After a long morning of creativity and fun we came home for lunch and everyone took a good, long nap.  What a great Saturday.

Rebekah making the rainbow border for her Angry Bird art tile.
Rebekah, Loyd and Xavier showing off their beautiful tissue paper flowers.  This was their favorite craft to carry around.
A snapshot of our morning's loot.  We made bean mosaic magnets, tissue paper flowers, duct tape rose pencil toppers, beaded key chains, painted pet rocks, clay medallions, decorated hollow eggs, decorated tiles, and newspaper mod podge art.  We also got our faced painted by the high school art club.  Whew, what a day.
After enjoying a yummy chocolate ice cream cone treat we discovered that Xavier looks pretty darn good with a goatee.
