Summer Reading Kick-Off and Beach Fun
The library kicked off this year's summer reading program with a free petting zoo for the kids. They were in heaven! They were able to pet all the animals and feed a good portion of the goats. Bekah was a natural with the animals. She was so gentle and patient with each creature. They knew she was a friend. Loyd was a little afraid at first, but as you can see, he warmed up and was so gentle. I think he had the most fun pulling the hay out and trying to feed it to the goats. Xavier took it all in stride, happily petting each new creature, but he found the rabbits to be his absolute favorite. He watched and petted them for a long time.
Thank you Freeman Memorial Library for such a fun afternoon!
I just love libraries!
We ended the week with a quick trip to a local beach. It was only 20 minutes away and it was perfect. The kids had a ball. They didn't want to come home, but when I finally pried them away from the sand and the surf they took a good long nap. I love beach days. :)
I was impressed by how dirty Xavier got while playing in the sand. He spent most of our morning there in the sand. He built a pretty good moat with his little cup. He also got knocked over a few times by the waves, but he giggled and grinned and got right back onto him feet each time.
Bekah lived in the water. She kicked and splashed and jumped with the waves. She was very brave and did it all without a life jacket. She's getting very grown up. She can't wait until we go to the beach again.
Loyd managed to split his time pretty evenly between the sand and the sea. And as you can see, he gave a creative effort at bringing some of the beach home with him. I guess you can't blame a kid for trying....
We are so lucky to live near these beautiful, warm beaches. What wonderful memories we are building along the shore and in the warm Gulf water. I wish everyone could enjoy the beach every week like we can. We are very blessed.
