Emotional Evolution of a Maeve Time-Out

Image
Here is one of Maeve's many, wonderful works of art.  She is busy drawing fanciful worlds full of amazing creates, and staring herself all day long.  I wish I had enough time to sit and copy them all to the blog to share with the world.  She has such vivid imagination in her pictures and they are always action packed with excitement.  Take for example the picture above.  Maeve is riding in some sort of motor powered floating piece of land while sharing the air space with a friendly, but fire breathing dragon, as well as the Eye of Cthulhu.  These are not the pink, princess filled pictures of many of her contemporaries.  Maeve has such talent and originality.  I love watching her create.  Recently she has taken her artistic creativity and used it to express her feelings when she is in her room for time out.  This set of pictures is the evolution of Maeve's most recent time out experience after melting down again at Owen.  I t...

Spring Time Fun

Image
It's a busy Spring!  Not only have we welcomed a new baby into the family, but we have managed to keep up with Spring Soccer for almost everyone, attend lots of fun library programs, and hit the great outdoors to play and get our wiggles out.  Here's some pictures of the fun things we've been up to.  Park day!  Look who gets to be on a soccer team this year!  Library Petting Zoo Fun            We just met Gerald and Piggy!   Owen was totally star struck, Maeve less so.  I thought it was AWESOME!     When you find a good stick, or six, you need to make sure you keep them in a safe, convenient spot.

Living Museum - The Xavier Year

Image
This is the year Xavier gets to participate in the 2nd Grade Living Museum.  He chose to learn about the hero Thurgood Marshall, an amazing man who fought for civil rights for all Americans and honorably served our country as the first African American Attorney General and the first African American Supreme Court Justice.  Xavier researched the life of Thurgood Marshall, wrote a short biography of his life, memorized his biography, and then presented his speech in front of his class and for all of the parents during the Living Museum.  Xavier did an awesome job!  I'm so proud of how hard and how diligently he worked to honor the contributions of Mr. Marshall to our country.  Way to go, Xavier!

Welcome Baby John!

Image
John Axle Cornelius In November we were told by the ultrasound technician that you were a girl.  So, we got busy planning for a baby girl.  Pink clothes and blankets were purchased, a Christmas princess stocking was made by Grandma Phillips, Grandma Cornelius got busy on a beautiful pink cross-stitch quilt, and a crochet lace blessing dress was carefully stitched.  Everything was ready well ahead of time for a sweet baby girl. Early in the morning on the big birth-day in March, Dustin and I arrived at the hospital ready to deliver our sweet baby into the world.  Everything went well and according to plan until the baby arrived.  In a voice that help some confusion, the doctor announced, "We have a boy!" Surprise! Turns out, we were all wrong.  We were expecting a beautiful baby boy the whole time!  Dustin and I were excited to meet our new son and get to know this precious little boy.  When we broke the news to the other kids th...
