Medieval Times - WHAT!?!?!?!!

In honor of Dustin's graduation we decided it would be totally awesome to go to Medieval Times in Dallas, Texas over Christmas break.  So, we loaded up the car and drove to Dallas for the most excellent of Medieval feasts.  We had so much fun watching all of the great horsemanship exhibitions, we enjoyed the yummy food and the silly names for each of the courses - like dragon scales and dragon's blood for tomato bisque and grilled herb bread.  We all especially enjoyed the story line of feasting with the King and his talented knights.  The boys flipped over the jousting tournament, and Maeve could hardly handle how exciting the battle between the bad guy and our Champion Knight.  Our Champion won of course, good thing because the kids were worried for a minute.  Everyone had such a fun time that Xavier unconsciously turned his cheering banner into a sword during the knight fight, Owen threw a huge tantrum when it was over and time to leave (he did not want to leave), Maeve, Loyd, and Xavier all asked what time we would be returning to watch it all again the next day (We had to break the news we weren't coming back the next day... very sad.), and Maeve prepared and hosted her own Medieval Feast and Knight Contest for the family when we got home.  She got everything copied exactly as it had been at Medieval Times, even down to the written menus and the table service.  I'll have to upload her masterpieces of art later.  :)

It was a good thing we were spending the night in a fancy hotel after our fun evening of feasting with real live falcons, horses and knights, or else I think Dustin and I may have had a real problem on our hands.  Luckily, we had a fun hotel room at the Hilton Homewood Suites in Dallas where we got to watch TV on 3 different TV sets, - I know, it was pretty amazing to see 3 TVs in one place, the kids were impressed -  swim in their indoor swimming pool where the water was nice, but not nearly as warm as we Houstonians like our swimming water, and have a microwave popcorn and chocolate milk party until a very late bedtime.  It was pretty much as awesome as a hotel party could get.

The next morning we ate our yummy complimentary breakfast, packed up the kids, and headed back home to League City.  On the way we decided to finally stop at the giant statue of Sam Houston.  It was fun to stretch our legs and meet this great Texan face to face, even if he was a bit taller than us.  :)  In life Sam Houston stood 6ft. 7 inches tall.  This scaled model of the man was 77 ft. tall, including the base - 67 ft of Mr. Houston and 10 Ft. of base.

Luckily, we found this great bust of Mr. Houston we could get our pictures with so you could see what he looked like without getting a straight up nose shot.  ;)

It was a super fun trip.  Thanks for graduating Dustin so we could have such a fun excuse to party at Medieval Times and jump on hotel beds for a night.  :)
I couldn't resist posting this picture of the family.  It's so rare that Rebekah let's us get a shot of her face so I had to post this one.  :) Happy New Year!  Here's to hoping 2017 brings good things to us and all those we love!
