Merry Christmas
We must have been very good this year. Santa left us lots of fun gifts. We thought we would share a little of our holiday in pictures.
Bekah received a castle and some Sleeping Beauty figures. She hasn't stopped playing with them since. We have had many daring rescues, perilous adventures, and dancing princess in the last two days.
Dad has been working around the house a lot and he has been using some pretty cool looking tools in the process. Poor Loyd has been frustrated at the nearly continuous refrain of "No Loyd, Daddy's tools," as he tries to join in the fun. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa C he can play with his own tools. He was so excited to have his very own hammer, screw driver and pliers. He keeps bringing his tool box, loaded with treasures, to each of us in the house and telling us with great pride, "Loyd's Tools!"
Even my garden got into the act. These beautiful roses came off my small rosebush in the front yard on Tuesday! I love blue sky Christmases. :D
We managed to coral the children for a few pictures in their new Christmas finery (Xavier pulled a few trixie baby moves and had to be changed just before we got any pictures of him in his new threads. Oh well, at least he's dressed, right?) Don't they all look so cute and angelic.
Of course, we know the truth!
I want to close with just a few words on Pavlov's Loyd. We have a little play kitchen (pictured behind the kids) . It makes several cooking and kitchen related noises when certain buttons are pushed. When you push the button for the oven it dings a few times to let you know the chicken is done and then breaks into a happy little tune. (Dustin thinks this is due to some strange cultural quirk associated with Chinese people - they make nearly everything we buy here in the USA, so they probably made the toy in question - and a love of all things chicken. I don't know, maybe....) Well, anyway, The kitchen dings and then plays a happy little song. This button is by far the most popular button to push. We all have the little ditty down pat. Not only do we all know the play chicken is done, this little button has had an interesting side effect as well. Loyd has begun to associate the ringing of any bell with food being ready to eat. Just as Pavlov trained his dog to salivate at the sound of a bell, our little Loyd enthusiastically screams "Dinner's Done!" and scrambles into a chair every time he hears a buzzer ding. I get no end of humor thinking at how similar my Loyd is to Pavlov's pet. Hm, maybe we should send him to a puppy farm? Nah, we'll keep him, for now.
Now, I just need to train the kids to pick up the toys at the sound of a train whistle. ;-)
