We got the heck out of Dodge!
What do you do during the hottest July in SE Texas history? Leave town, of course!
We just got back from a wonderful trip to Utah. We got to visit Grandma and Grandpa P and Grandma and Grandpa C and all of our cousins and uncles and aunts. We had a terrific trip and found lots of wonderful activities to keep us hopping! Here are just a few of the pictures we took in no particular order.
The kids thought Grandma and Grandpa P.'s house was wonderful. It took nearly the 2 full days of the drive back home to convince Rebekah she was ready to leave. She loved sleeping in the nice cool basement, eating yummy snacks and treats all day, and picking peas and cherry tomatoes at her every whim. Besides, nobody loves you like your Grandma and Grandpa do. My mom was a saint and spend way too much time helping me to make curtains for all the bedrooms in my house and making yummy food for us to eat. We all came home a bit fatter than we left. :>)
Grandma's backyard is beautiful and full of lots of magical hiding places for a 3 year old. Here is one we found Bekah hiding in one afternoon.
We were so lucky to have Aunt Jenny and Uncle David come up for a few days. We played lots of games and we all relearned that Aunt Jenny is indeed a formidable opponent.
Aunt Lizzy and Uncle Thomas brought the newest cousin, Caleb, down from Idaho. Bekah and Loyd loved to play with the baby and touch his soft skin. He is one cute chubby Idaho spud! We also want to give a great big THANK YOU to Aunt Lizzy for giving the entire family fabulous hair cuts! Loyd's faux-hock is the best!
Grandma and Grandpa C and Uncle Jared graciously drove all the way from CA to spend a few days with us. The kids had a wonderful time playing with them. We even got to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house with them. Rebekah thought the fire alarms and the baptismal font were the most interesting sights to be seen in that amazing house of the Lord. Loyd enjoyed dispensing head butts to everyone as his official greeting and farewell. :) He is such a boy!
We got this wonderful picture of 4 generations of Cornelius' with Grandma Great. We always love to stop by and visit with her. I hope I'm as sharp and spry and she is when I get to her age.
Uncle Royal and Aunt Loretta took us on a great hike off the Nebo Loop to a beautiful waterfall. The kids had to be pulled away when it was time to go. They loved playing in the icy water and throwing the rocks. They made some great plopping sounds as they splashing into the shallow water.
We were so lucky to spend a few days with our Rose cousins. Rebekah and Walter became fast friends and Delaney and Olivia took their little cousins under their wings and showed them a few of the wonderful things to do in Utah county. We went to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country (Loyd learned that chickens can bite), the fresh water aquarium at Cabella's (I've never seen a kid run so fast in wonderful and excitement than Loyd as he ran from fish to fish), a few museums at BYU (Rebekah loved to see all the bones at the Paleontology museum. She couldn't believe anything could be that big), and this great hike. Rebekah was so proud that she crossed bridges all by herself and got to walk in the beautiful mountains. Thank you again for letting us come and visit for a few days, Uncle Royal and Aunt Loretta! It was absolutely wonderful!
We didn't get pictures of everyone so we want to give a quick shout out to Uncle Jason who came and suffered through a few hours of golf with Dustin. It was fun to see you and it was so nice of you to come down to visit with the kids.
I also want to give warm kisses and hugs to Aunt Karen and Uncle Brandon. We hope Aunt Karen makes a full recovery from watching our busy Loyd for part of Sacrament Meeting at Caleb's blessing. ;>)
It was so much fun to see Anthony and learn about his new rock climbing hobby. Don't fall off any mountains! We were so glad we could see Robbie too. What would a trip to Utah be without our Robbie?!
I LOVED being able to see my BFF's from high school at a great party held at Annie's house. You all have such beautiful babies! I can't believe between the 5 of us we total 13 kids already! And we are so glad we were able to see our friends the Larsons, both in Laramie, WY and Provo, UT. Dustin's highlight of the trip was going to see the Star Trek movie with Chris. Silly boys. :)
We'll close on this shot. It pretty much captures the wacky fun the kids had with all their cousins. Thanks to Jayden, Skyler and Kailyn for coming over so much and keeping Loyd and Rebekah on their toes. They made innumerable happy memories.
